Sandi 02-21-98 - 12/31/08

Almost 6 yrs ago my late ex-mil adopted Sandi (sheltie) at 4 yrs old. Sandi also known as CH Kismet's Sandra Dee, totally bonded with her. After ex-mil's death I inherited Sandi and Sonja (her cousin). Sandi was never the same, her little heart broke when her mama died. She still was flirty and outgoing, and very much independent, and she never forgot her first mama.

New Years Eve Sandi had to go to the rainbow bridge. We found out that she had torn her ACL (knee) but due to her joints being in bad shape and not being able to stand least of all walk, she wasn't a candidate for surgery. And in the past she had bad reactions to Rimadyl so wouldn't even be able to take those for a while. I tried to help her but being so independent she didn't want any help. In the last couple of days she gave me the look that let me know that she was ready to go.

I took these 2 pics of her that morning in my office. She really hated having her pic taken.

So fly high Sandi,

Love,
Your Second Mama

Oh, Rottie_mom, I'm so sorry. I'm just crying over your post. Sandi was so beautiful. I'm sure she's happy to be reunited with her first mom, but that doesn't make it easier on her second mom. Hugs to you!

Thanks, it wasn't as hard as letting some of my others go but it still sucked. At least I know she is happy and healthy and with her mama again, and that makes it all worth while.

Thanks everyone. She really was such a special girl. She loved to show, nothing like being the center of attention. At least I know she was able to live her last years out in peace and quiet.

Thanks again.

Oh that is so sad. But now she is at the rainbow bridge jumping and running like when she was a little pup.
My mom is a Rott momma too! She had a beautiful big rottie named Bella who passed away in 2002 of a bad heart.
Mom always says once a rott mom always a rott mom!!
Cool bloggy, btw
