Cautionsly optimistic

On Monday I had to take Nanuchy back to the vets. You can imagine how thrilled she was to be back, and for you who are keeping count that is 3 vet visits in 2 weeks. Unlike Patachou who loved going to the vets, Nanuchy not so much. The night before she had had horrible diarrhea. It seems Little Ms Thing decided to pick up something on one of the walks (since really she didn't have enough going on lol) and she was loaded with bacteria (vets words lol). So she got 3 additional meds to help her feel better. She lost another lb between Friday and Monday. She has lost 4 lbs since May and now weighs 23.5 lbs.

She wouldn't touch 1 of the kinds of canned food the vet recommended.  She did eat a bit of the other canned food, only about 1/8 of a can which isn't enough. Vet recommended that I boil rice and chicken for her again and mix it with that 1 can. In addition I've been adding canned pumpkin (100% pumpkin, good stuff clears up both diarrhea and constipation).

Well yesterday for the first time in over 3 weeks Nanuchy ate almost all her breakfast and dinner and kept it down. I'm sooo excited. The meds are kicking in and this morning she actually licked her bowl clean!!! She's still drinking quite a bit of water but a bit less than before so hopefully all this is slowing down the kidney failure. The leaking seems to have gotten quite a bit better since she has been on the meds for that too. I was also able to get her to take her meds in small pieces of sliced cheese (she wouldn't eat it due to feeling sick so I had to shove it down her throat, which is a scary proposition on most days lol)

Pirata likes to sit on the toilet in the morning and watch me get ready. Isn't she too cute?? LOL In the bathtub I had to wash one of the dog beds since my sister's dog threw up on it. Poor baby. Squeaky (dog) and Dallas (cat) stayed at my place on Tuesday so my sister could move into her new apt without having to worry about them. I guess it was too much excitement for her.

And here is the rest of the crew while I'm getting ready, Patches on the bed, Nanuchy and Sonja who as usual looks like she is ready to run LOL.

I wanted to thank all of you for all the prayers for my special little girl. It has been a rough few weeks. I know the unavoidable will still happen but am grateful that she at least now will be able to enjoy whatever time she has left.

Eating well is always a good sign and drinking water will surely help the kidneys. Hope you have lots more good days to come.

That is good news! The problem with the tinned food is that not many dogs do like it but rice and chicken/pasta and chicken etc is good with no salt.
Poor Nanuchy she must be fed up with the vet!

I am so glad the Vet has been able to help. They all look so sweet watching you get ready for work. I hope things continue to go well. I'll keep y'all in my prayers.

Well I'm so glad to hear that Nanuchy is now responding to the meds, and I know how uncomfortable for her to go to the vets very often. Give her more love and attention to overcome her tensions on her medications. I know how hard for the dogs, they sometimes avoid taking them, they are so smart enough to find out that we sometimes mixed the pills in the food haha... smart dogs!

Pirata looks very curious in that photo, what were you doing, that made her look very serious?

Thanks Op Pack, it is good seeing her feeling more like herself. Hopefully things will stay stable for a while.

Thanks Martha & Bailey. Im def very relieved that she is eating again and feeling better. It was so hard watching her loose weight and feel awful.

Thanks Dru. She was looking so bad I was sure I'd have to put her to sleep. But she bounced back and hopefully I'll have her for a long time. My girls are so funny aren't they lol.

Thanks Brandy. They are all sweet girls so it is funny having them all lined up ready for their walk lol. Normally Nanuchy stays on her doggy bed until its time to go lol.

Thanks Al, She is def a sneak dog lol. Most of the time I can ground up the pills and sprinkle on her food and she eats it right up. But with her not eating I had actually resort to shoving down her throat, which is a scary event since she will bite lol.

Not sure why Pirata was looking so serious. She had been looking down and I called her name so I could get a pic of her pretty face. She is the one that loves to explore things lol.
